Raspberry Reflections

Yesterday I spent my annual day traveling to a u-pick farm for my annual raspberry picking experience. I can not over state the pleasure of gazing at rows and rows of ripe raspberries, basking in the sun, waiting to be picked. I travel 100 miles each way to pick the berries and it is worth every moment of the driving.

Unlike their cousins the blackberries, raspberries offer themselves easily, at shoulder height, and thorn less. And as I wander along the rows of raspberry bushes and make my choice, I am so aware that sometimes one does not have to push and fight to obtain something so desirable. The raspberries are there for the picking. Yes, some are carefully hidden beneath a leaf and some are on full display but with no effort at all a basket is filled.

And so it is with life, some things we have to work for, somethings we have to struggle to obtain but occasionally something is offered to us that is absolutely easy and effortless to attain. As the saying goes “don’t look a gift horse in the mouth” but do appreciate the good things that come to you easily, with no struggle on your part. Think of these things as a gift from the Universe and give thanks from the heart.
